Carpenter

Job Description

The Carpenter’s role is to independently and proficiently complete framing and finish carpentry tasks, along with other basic construction tasks required at a jobsite. The Production Manager is the supervisor for the Carpenter and will assign the Carpenter to jobsites on a daily or weekly basis. While working at job sites, the Carpenter will report to the Job Site Supervisor until assigned elsewhere.  

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Perform carpentry tasks including framing, cabinetry, and finish carpentry independently and according to plans and specifications to a satisfactory level of quality craftsmanship.

  • Perform additional construction related tasks and errands independently, including but not limited to job site set up, site prep for trades, and assisting trades as assigned to support the construction team in maintaining project schedule.

  • Maintain a clean and safe jobsite by sweeping and clearing construction debris daily, vacuuming at least twice per week, and addressing safety issues in an appropriate manner.    

  • Remove appliances, fixtures, framing, concrete, or other items as instructed during demolition at projects.

  • Dig, excavate, backfill, and compact dirt for footings, trenches, and conduits as instructed.

  • Pick-up, deliver, load, and unload materials, equipment, and products.

  • Complete written reports and logs as assigned for task completion using cloud-based project management platform or other medium as assigned.

  • Make a concerted effort to develop proficiency and build upon carpentry skills, tool use, construction terminology, processes, and plan reading that are demonstrated and taught on the job.

  • Learn and follow all safety standards.

  • Listen to Supervisor and follow instructions precisely, completing assigned tasks in a timely manner.

  • Supervise and train the Carpenter’s Apprentice in the completion of tasks when assigned by the Job Site Supervisor.

  • Oversee, meet, and work with trade partners as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience working in construction or remodeling as a carpenter or apprentice.

  • High School Diploma or Equivalency and proficiency in basic computer/smart phone skills.

  • Ability to read, write, and speak English with proficiency in order to facilitate clear communication with trades and co-workers.

  • Ability to perform math calculations necessary for correctly measuring and preparing materials for installation.

  • Physical strength and stamina to perform construction tasks including the ability to lift and carry a minimum of 40 pounds, stand more than four hours at a time, climb ladders up to 16 feet tall and work at heights of up to 20 feet, and crawl up to 50 feet.

  • A valid California driver’s license and a clean driving record.

Interior Designer

Job Description

The Interior Designer is responsible for managing the design aspect of residential remodeling and new home design-build projects. This includes acting as the clients’ point of contact for all design-related aspects of the project and partnering with the Lead Carpenter throughout the construction phase. The Interior Designer may also be responsible for managing interns, design assistants or other designers assigned to their projects. This is a mid to advanced level position in the residential design industry.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Lead design and estimating meetings with clients, trade partners, vendors, and production team.

  • Develop and manage timely and efficient project schedules with client and production.

  • Work with estimating and production to insure design development within budget.

  • Communicate promptly and clearly with client about timing and budget.

  • Accurately measure existing structures and provide detailed as-built floor plans for design development.

  • Interview clients to ensure designs are reflective of their tastes, needs, and budgets.

  • Develop professional and knowledgeable design concepts for clients to review based upon client interviews, idea books, and latest industry trends.

  • Create hand-drawn and CAD drawings as needed for clarification, specification, and detail pertaining to a larger scope of work or design (i.e. cabinet and tile layout details).

  • Provide knowledgeable guidance to clients regarding various products and continue to learn about new products; this may include developing and maintaining product libraries.

  • Identify all products needed for the construction of the project, including client education, specification sheets, and plan documentation.

  • Display appropriate sales skills in client meetings.

  • Work with production team to resolve design issues during construction.

  • Maintain detailed notes from all meetings.

  • Maintain current schedule, logs, and project information to cloud-based project management platform.

 

Qualifications

  • Professional degree in Interior Design or Architecture or equivalent industry experience

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in residential design

  • Advanced proficiency in Chief Architect or similar CAD program

  • Proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office Suite, and Adobe software

  • Construction knowledge, management, or field experience desired

  • Basic knowledge of California Building Codes desired, but not required

  • Experience with client and subcontractor interface in residential construction

  • Demonstrated ability to produce documentation for built projects, organize information, and manage workflow

  • Structural and detail design experience desired

  • Ability to perform zoning and building code research

  • Ability to manage multiple projects through all phases of design

  • Strong written, verbal, and visual communication skills

  • Solid time management and organizational skills with attention to detail

  • Experience working in a collaborative environment

  • Ability to work independently and self-monitor progress in order to meet expectations

  • Ability to delegate tasks and manage resources assigned to projects efficiently and professionally

  • Driven to consistently improve skills and knowledge in the residential design and construction field
