Torres, Clement, and Simons Fill New Positions at Morse Custom Homes and Remodeling

Chris Patino Torres, Ilaina Clement & Debra Simons join the team at Morse Custom Homes and Remodeling.

Morse Custom Homes and Remodeling commenced the celebration of their 25th year of business this October. Founded in 1992 by current owner Marty Morse, the company has evolved from its original service as a general contractor. In 2018, Morse created three new positions to help manage demand for its high-quality custom design-build services. The company now consists of 16 employees working in the professional fields of design, estimating, sales, carpentry and construction management. The new employees will manage workload in each of Morse's three departments: Design, Construction and Sales.

Chris Patino Torres joined Morse in April as a Carpenter. A vital part of our production team, Chris provides support on the jobsite performing a wide range of tasks that are essential in the process of making our client’s dream remodeling projects come to fruition. Chris brings several years of experience in building maintenance, and shows a strong passion for learning and growing in his role as a carpenter. He displays resourcefulness and flexibility in the constantly changing demands and intricacies typical of a custom construction project. Chris is known to always have a smile on his face, a true reflection of the pride he carries as a valued part of the Morse Custom Homes and Remodeling family.

Ilaina Clement joined Morse in July as a Lead Interior Designer. Her 17-year design career began with opening her own home décor boutique and design studio in Connecticut where she worked for 10 years with clients on residential home remodeling projects. After a move to the mid-Atlantic region, Ilaina worked as a sales representative and helped commercial designers in the selection of interior finishes and fixtures for their projects. With a focus on high-rise residential and hospitality projects, she expanded her product knowledge of glass, solid surface material and tile. At Morse, Ilaina enjoys working with homeowners and getting to understand their design aesthetic so she can create an environment that fits their personality and life style. She is a graduate of Penn State University with a degree in journalism. She attended the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) when interiors became her passion. Now a Californian, Ilaina marvels at the incredible weather and tries to find as many new outdoor experiences as possible.

Debra Simons joined Morse in October as a Sales Coordinator. Debra is the first point of contact in the sales process at Morse Custom Homes & Remodeling. She works with interested clients to discuss the design-build process and analyze their remodeling needs. She joined us in 2018 bringing with her a strong background in the real estate industry, including experience working with designers and construction trades in projects ranging from residential to commercial. Her experience runs the spectrum from sales and finance, to practical design layout and job site management. Morse is proud to have Debra on staff to work with our potential clients, sharing details about the remodeling process and exploring preliminary design solutions for tricky remodeling projects. When not busy cultivating new design-build projects at Morse, Deb’s passion is hiking the Sierra Nevada mountains and spending time with her friends and family.

In addition to developing these new positions, Morse has also hired two new full time employees to fulfill what were formerly part-time positions.

“I am really excited to see how my company has evolved over the past 25 years. I’m grateful that I can create jobs right here in my hometown”. Part of Morse’s philosophy is to train the next generation. Several of his employees are graduates of UC Davis and many were brought in to train on the job under his experienced staff.

“I have enjoyed seeing the new members of our team embrace the culture of our company and provide the skillsets we have developed for their new positions. Having the 25 years of experience, and a very professional staff, has allowed us to mentor a younger generation of employees that can nurture our business model for the next 25 years.”
